We must continue to protect the unique values and character of our town.
In that fight I can draw upon 19 years of service to this community, 11 as a member of the Whittier City School Board and 8 as a city councilman. Over the years I have worked to preserve our hills and historic neighborhoods and have helped the Greenway Trail go from dream to near completion. I want to continue to steer Whittier into the future with an eye to preserving the best of our past.
Promoting Prosperity
Whittier needs to continue its economic development and enhance local shopping opportunities for our residents.
I am proud of the Whittier Boulevard revitalization plan and the redevelopment of the Whittwood Town Center—but that is just the beginning. We must make sure that Uptown Whittier and the Nelles property fulfill their potential with new and exciting development that blends with, and adds value to, the neighborhoods around them.
Protecting Families
Earlier this year I led the fight to protect our homes and families from the dangers of fireworks, and I want to continue to emphasize the importance of public safety.
As your council member, I am proud that our police department is now at full complement and that we are proceeding with plans to build a new police station with modern facilities that will provide the kind of protection our citizens deserve.
